
King Charles III was crowned in Westminster Abbey last Saturday, 6th May. His wife, Camilla, the Queen Consort, stood alongside him and was crowned Queen. During the ceremony, the king was anointed with orange, rose, cinnamon and ambergris oils. He was crowned with a solid gold crown weighing 2.23kg. The historic stone of destiny (the stone of Scone) was moved to London from Scotland for the ceremony. The CoronationBig Lunch took place yesterday, 7th May. It was a chance for people to get together with theirneighbours, share food and have fun. In fact, to mark the event, the royal couple, alongside the royal head chef came up with a recipe for a ‘Coronation Quiche’.The quiche is flavoured with broad beans,spinach and tarragon.
A special coronation concert was held yesterday, at Windsor Castle.Some of the stars who performed at the concertwere Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and the pop band Take That. Lights, projections, lasers and even drone displays were used to illuminate landmarks fromaround the UK during the concert. Today children won’t have to go to schooland many adults won’t have to go to work.
